The one with the first prototype

Good morning,
As you were sleeping in, we in dosLHAMAS were already up, grinding, and having our daily morning Scrum meeting.
Yesterday we ordered some crucial components for the racking, which we are waiting patiently for to arrive, (hopefully) at the end of this first sprint. In the meantime, it is all about the basics. To keep track of our tasks we decided to create a backlog, just like in real Scrum manners. We decided to split up and focus on different things:
Sketching:
We agreed to explore the design space for the smartWINERY a bit, but agreed that it was a too soon after a bit of sketching. The reason why confusion might appear is mainly as we have two tracks of building the final product; one visual model and one functional. Some design aspects are relevant for both models, and some only for the functional, which does not make so much sense to refine. We did not proceed further than the drawings below, so don't get too excited yet!

Our first prototype:
Something very exciting happened today as we took the first step in building a physical model of "the case". This was in the spirit of focusing on functionalities over visuals. As we had not yet determined the architecture of the inner components, we knew that we had to specify this in order to explore and build alternatives. It did however, give us a quite good idea of which areas we need to improve.

3D print of locking mechanism:
While some have been sketching and building prototypes, others have 3D printed the bayonet locking mechanism. We need this under the lid to attach the whisk to the motor. So far it is looking good, but this was mainly a test to see if we could make an attachment which would fit tightly. A prototyping planner was also completed.

Temperature sensor test:
We also did some testing in terms of temperature measurement. The NHT11 temperature and humidity sensor is chosen since it is way more precise and consistent. The readings from the TMP36 sensor sometimes jump around. If the NHT11 sensor is placed in the lid of the smartWINERY we can measure the humidity to determine if the lid is airtight.

This was all for today!
See you tomorrow :)
